I've had this cardigan since Freshman year, but I wore it almost every day then and so I got tired of it. I also had some bad memories connected to this cardigan since Freshman year was definitely not the easiest on me, so I didn't wear it for a really long time. I actually almost threw it out this summer, but something made me keep it and I'm really glad I did. Enough time has passed that now I can wear it again and I'm wearing it all the time! I love how the edges drape down and create a really interesting shape. Not to mention that it also has pockets! It's so weird how some pieces can hold such distinct memories and that also you can decide to let go of those connections and create new ones.

Since I've found my tripod again, I've been able to take pictures in different locations and I was pretty tired of the basic white garage door background I've been using. So this time, I just decided to take pictures in a neighborhood street. And it's really nice to have color in my backgrounds again! I'd say it's definitely worth the teeny tiny downside having to move when cars drive by!

Blogging and Learning

Early on while I was thinking about the decision to move to this blog from Alles Mode, I tried to come up with backgrounds of outfit pictures. One of my goals for the new blog was to have more varied backgrounds, and I came up with small list of places to go. When all else failed, I figured I could always take pictures in my room, right in the space shown in these pictures. I somehow imagined this area differently when I was thinking about it, and though I knew right away that this wasn't going to work, the day I had to take pictures there, I took pictures there anyway. Because of the reasons shown above and the fact that these photos are all very out of focus, I decided not to post these as a regular outfit post. I really like this outfit, but it doesn't hold up to the standard I'm setting for myself. I have a lot to figure out before I take pictures inside again, but I wanted to post these as a way of marking my progress, still posting this outfit, and as a reminder to myself of what I need to work on.

Firework

My mom, brother, and I went on a bit of a road trip the other day and as we were driving, I spotted this adorable firework stand. I thought it would be a great background and so we took pictures there. The lighting wasn't the best, though it was late in the afternoon, so that's another thing I have to keep in consideration. I forget it's summer! In any event, I love how charmingly these stands are painted, especially with the light bulbs strung across the top. I have to say, though, I almost changed my mind about taking pictures there when I stepped into the grass and about ten grasshoppers jumped away from my feet! It's silly, but grasshoppers freak me out, especially when they're jumping out of the grass, but I surprised myself and took pictures anyway. Oh, the things I do for this blog!

As I'm shifting over and adjusting to blogging over here instead of at Alles Mode, I'm also making it a goal to have much more varied picture backgrounds. This brick wall is perfect, but the day we took these pictures, it was much earlier than it was before, and I totally forgot to take lighting into account. Because of that, the sun was directly overhead and way too harsh. While sitting on this stool in the shade sort of solved that problem, the lighting in these pictures is still a little odd (you can see how bright it is behind me!). But it's all about learning, so I'm cool with that!
